  • Windows installer might not be upgraded or installed while upgrading Operating system. Or not updated through Windows update properly.

Step 1: Run Program Install & Uninstall Troubleshooter

  • Download Windows installed Microsoft fixit from Microsoft Official Website and run it as administrator, follow on screen instructions.
  • Restart the computer and try to install or uninstall the applications that where you got the error before.

  • Press Windows + R key to bring up Run command.

Step 3: Re-register Microsoft installer service

Re-registering Microsoft Installer Service is another good method to solve the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed error.

  • Search for CMD from start. Right click on command prompt click Run as administrator

  • In Command Prompt, type the following line or past. You need to hit Enter every time after each line.

   %windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /unregister
%windir%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver
%windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /unregister
%windir%\syswow64\msiexec.exe /regserver

  • Close Command Prompt and restart your computer.
  • You have re-registered Windows Installer Service. Check and see if you fix the Service could not be accessed error.

Step 4: Reinstall Windows Installer

  • Search for CMD from start. Right click on command prompt click Run as administrator
  • At the command prompt, type the following lines. Press ENTER after you type each line.

cd %windir%\system32
ren msi.dll msi.old
ren msiexec.exe msiexec.old
ren msihnd.dll msihnd.old

  • Close the command prompt. Restart the computer and if check the issues is fixed now.
