Fix Windows Update error 0x80092004

You experience error 0x80092004 when trying to install updates on Windows 10. As reported on Microsoft community recently, Windows 10 failed to install KB4340557, KB4340558, KB4291495, KB4291495, KB4056892, and KB4088776 Security updates with error 0x80092004.

Step 1: Reset Windows Update Components.

To reset Windows Update components, follow the below resolution steps.

  • Navigate the path: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. (hope Windows installed in C drive, if not navigate the root path)
  •  Select all files inside the SoftwareDistribution and delete them permanently.
  • Next, Empty the Recycle Bin and try to install updated now.
